Anyone who knows much about Australia knows that meat pies are iconic. They are the hot dog of our country.
The perfect, hand held package of goodness.
In many flavors nowadays but most Aussies remember the good ol’ mince beef pie at the Tuckshop or the local corner store. The servo. Uncle Bens. Four and Twenty.

You name it, we’ve got it.

I have lived in NYC for 12 years now and I remember the first time I had a pie in the states it was at an Australian Consulate Event and I about back flipped.
Move then to Eight Mile Creek, Dub Pies and Tuckshop and I have been getting my little pie fix here and there for years.

So, a couple of weeks ago I was stoked to go check out one of the new Pie Face locations here in NYC. I was at their second location in Murray Hill. [507 Third Ave @ 34th Street New York, NY 10022]Pie Face is a Australian born and bred, little engine that could kind of a story. Opened in Bondi Beach, Sydney in 2003 by former fashion designers Wayne Homschek and Betty Fong. Pie Face has 75 locations in Australia and now two in NYC!

I tried so many little beauties it was hard to say what my favorites were.
Mini Pie flavors come in:

mini chunky steak pie - This is most like the ones I remember growing up. More like what you would find at a small town bakery, with nice chunks of steak and a savory gravy.

mini mince beef & tomato pie

mini chicken & mushroom pie This is yummy! Garlic and creamy chicken gravy, with mushrooms and some herbs for flavor.

mini thai chicken curry pie The Aussie’s love their curry and so in the past few years, curry pies have become super popular. Asian curry obviously making an appearance with Australia’s big Asian cuisine influences.

mini tandoori vegetable pie The veggie pie was delicious with good Indian tandoori spices and great chunky (and not mushy) texture inside.

mini mexican pie Y’all know this Aussie loves her Mexican! Hello tacos. Great flavors here. I think people would love this one with cilantro and spice.

mini chicken n’ bacon roll OMG. Sausage rolls are a big winner in my heart. Also something I ate at school & growing up. Big hit of smokey bacon and then good herbed chicken flavors.

mini beef n’ pork sausage rolls Perfect little traditional sausage roll. I definitely had a little nostalgia and whipped out the tomato sauce aka ketchup.

mini vegetarian rolls Sure this would be yummy but I was too full to try it!

Pie Face is getting into the US Holidays too by releasing a special Thanksgiving Turkey Pie w/ Roast Turkey and stuffing. (I tried this one and it tasted exactly like the best of Thanksgiving leftover sammies) Love.

They also have a location in TIMES SQUARE and both are open 24 hours.

Go on in and say G’day!
